UGC Recruitment 2023: The National Eligibility Test, also known as UGC NET or NTA-UGC-NET, is the qualifying test for Assistant Professors or Junior Research Fellowship or both in Indian universities and government colleges. Assistant Professors in Autonomous colleges may or may not be NET qualified. NET qualification is mandatory for universities & government colleges. It has been labeled as the toughest exam in India just not as much as the Union Public Service Commission.

UGC Recruitment 2023 Registration:

• Registration: New users should register on the official website of UGC NET  to register for the exam. Aspirants can complete the registration process by filling in the required details.
• Log in: Already registered aspirants can log in using their Application Number and Password.
• Note: Aspirants are advised to go through the Terms and Conditions and then click on “Proceed Further”.

UGC Recruitment 2023 Eligibility:

Before filling the UGC Recruitment 2023 Application Form, aspirants must consider the important points listed below:

• Age Criteria: The upper age limit is 30 years as of December 1^st. There is no age limit described for the Assistant Professor.
• Age Relaxation: 5 years of relaxation is given in the upper age limit for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD category. Relaxation would also be provided to the research experience aspirants.
• Qualifying Exam: Aspirants must have a Master’s degree or equivalent from any recognized university.
• Subjects: The qualifying exam has to be passed in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications and Electronic Science.
• Minimum Marks: General category aspirants must have scored 55% marks in the qualifying exam while 50% marks are required for reserved category aspirants.
• Aspirants who are appearing in the final semester of the master’s degree can also apply.
• Relaxation: There is a 5% relaxation for Ph.D. degree holders in aggregate marks. Such aspirants should have a Master’s degree examination completed before September 19, 1991.

Exam Pattern:

• UGC NET would be conducted in online mode.
• The questions in both the papers would be objective in nature.
• All questions in UGC NET would be Multiple Choice Type (MCQs)
• The question would have 4 options, aspirants must select the most appropriate answer.
• There is no restriction to move between papers.
• All questions are compulsory.

Marking Scheme:

• A uniform marking scheme is followed in the exam i.e. for both Paper 1 and 2, each correct answer is worth 2 marks.
• As per the revised exam of the UGC NET exam, there is no negative marking for an incorrect answer.
• Hence, instead of skipping a question, once can use their calculated guess and mark the answer.

Syllabus:

UGC NET Paper 1 is common and compulsory for every candidate.

• Paper 1 would have 50 questions worth 100 marks.
• Paper 1 syllabus has 10 units and exactly 5 questions would be asked from each unit.

Unit-I Teaching Aptitude  

• Teaching: Concept, Objectives, Levels of teaching (Memory, Understanding, and Reflective), Characteristics and basic requirements.
• Learner’s characteristics: Characteristics of adolescent and adult learners (Academic, Social, Emotional and Cognitive), Individual differences.
• Factors affecting teaching related to Teacher, Learner, Support material, Instructional facilities, Learning environment, and Institution.
• Methods of teaching in Institutions of higher learning: Teacher-centered vs. Learner-centred methods; Off-line vs. On-line methods (Swayam, Swayamprabha, MOOCs, etc.).
• Teaching Support System: Traditional, Modern and ICT-based.
• Evaluation Systems: Elements and Types of evaluation, Evaluation in Choice Based Credit System in Higher education, Computer-based testing, Innovations in evaluation systems.

Unit-II Research Aptitude 

• Research: Meaning, Types, and Characteristics, Positivism and Post positivistic approach to research.
• Methods of Research: Experimental, Descriptive, Historical, Qualitative and Quantitative Methods, Steps of Research.
• Thesis and Article writing: Format and styles of referencing, Application of ICT in research, Research ethics.

Unit-III Comprehension 

• A passage of text is given. Questions are asked from the passage to be answered.

Unit-IV Communication

• Communication: Meaning, types, and characteristics of communication.
• Effective communication: Verbal and Non-verbal, Inter-Cultural and group communications, Classroom communication, Barriers to effective communication, Mass-Media and Society.

Unit-V Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude 

• Types of reasoning: Number series, Letter series, Codes, and Relationships.
• Mathematical Aptitude: Fraction, Time & Distance, Ratio, Proportion and Percentage, Profit and Loss, Interest and Discounting, Averages, etc.

Unit-VI Logical Reasoning 

• Understanding the structure of arguments: argument forms, the structure of categorical propositions, Mood and Figure, Formal and Informal fallacies, Uses of language, Connotations, and denotations of terms, Classical square of opposition, Evaluating and distinguishing deductive and inductive reasoning, Analogies.
• Venn diagram: Simple and multiple uses for establishing the validity of arguments.

Unit-IX People, Development and Environment ·

• Development and Environment: Millennium development and Sustainable development goals.
• Human and environment interaction: Anthropogenic activities and their impacts on the environment.

UGC NET Paper 2 Syllabus

The subject matter for question paper 2 is selected by the applicant. Paper 2 would have 100 questions completely based on the material elected. The detailed syllabus PDF for 81 subjects of the UGC NET Exam can be found on the website.

Admit Card:

• Visit the website – https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in/
• Log in with your credentials.
• Link to Admit Card would appear on the screen.
• Verify the details, and the photograph, etc.
• Take a colored printout of the same.
• Keep 2-3 copies of the printed admit card.

UGC Recruitment 2023 Result:

• The outcome would be published as a scorecard accommodating marks scored in each paper.
• Ahead of issuing the result, NTA would publish temporary and final answer keys.
• Aspirants would be able to protest the conditional blueprint by repaying a fee of INR 1000 per remark.
• If the c/ objection is approved by the jurisdiction, the fee would be reimbursed.
• NTA’s decision on the challenges would be final
• No objections about the answer key post result disclosure would be entertained.

Cut-off:

• A category-wise and subject-wise merit list would be released for the aspirants who have secured the qualifying percentile.
• Top 6% aspirants from would hold the eligibility of Assistant professorship only.
• Among NET aspirants, a separate merit list would be created for JRF awards.
• Below mentioned are the qualifying marks.
