GSETGSET 2023: Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara organizes the GSET entrance exam for the interested aspirants to recruit for the Assistant Professor post. GSET is a popular exam that the Gujarat Government would conduct State Eligibility Test (GSET) for determining the Eligibility of Gujarat state’s aspirants for Assistant Professor in universities and colleges of Gujarat State.

GSET 2023 Application Form:

  • The aspirants need to visit the official page.
  • Go to the “Register” link.
  • Enter the necessary details and make the payment
  • After 24 hours of completion of fee payment,
  • Aspirants need to login to their account with Reference Number and Date of Birth for completing the procedure.
  • Contenders need to upload the Scanned Passport size photograph.
  • The scanned image should be in JPEG format and its size should be less than 100 KB.
  • Aspirants need to enter the details such as personal, academic, contact details, etc.
  • Aspirants are suggested to check the entered details in the form correctly and then submit it.
  • No further modifications are allowed once the submission is done.

GSET 2023 Application Fee:

  • Application Fee for General Aspirants & OBC is Rs. 800/-.
  • GSET Registration Fee for SC/ ST/ PH/ VH/ Transgender Candidates is Rs. 700/-.

Gujarat SET 2023 Eligibility Criteria:

Nationality: The candidate should be a citizen of India

Age Limit: Candidates should need more than 18 years. There is no certain upper maximum age limit for the eligibility of Assistant Professor.

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates should need the Master’s degree recognized by UGC.
  • Aspirants should need 55% aggregate marks in their Master’s Degree/ equivalent examination.
  • Reserved category candidates should need 50% marks in the Master’s Degree.
  • 5% aggregate relaxation is applicable for the Ph.D. degree holder who had possessed the Master’s Degree by 19th September 1991.

Exam Pattern:

GSET would consist of two papers. Both the papers would have only objective type questions and would be held in two separate sessions as under:

Unit-I Teaching Aptitude

  • Teaching: Concept, Objectives, Levels of teaching (Memory, Understanding and Reflective), Characteristics and basic requirements.
  • Learner’s characteristics: Characteristics of adolescent and adult learners
  • (Academic, Social, Emotional and Cognitive), Individual differences.
  • Factors affecting teaching related to Teacher, Learner, Support material,
  • Instructional facilities, Learning environment and Institution.
  • Methods of teaching in Institutions of higher learning: Teacher-centered vs. Learner-centred methods; Off-line vs. On-line methods (Swayam, Swayamprabha, MOOCs, etc.).
  • Teaching Support System: Traditional, Modern and ICT-based.
  • Evaluation Systems: Elements and Types of evaluation, Evaluation in Choice Based Credit System in Higher education, Computer-based testing, Innovations in evaluation systems.

Unit-II Research Aptitude:

  • Research: Meaning, Types, and Characteristics, Positivism and Post-positivistic approach to research.
  • Methods of Research: Experimental, Descriptive, Historical, Qualitative and Quantitative methods.
  • Steps of Research.
  • Thesis and Article writing: Format and styles of referencing.

  • Research ethics.

Unit-III Comprehension:

  • A passage of text is given. Questions are asked from the passage to be answered.

Unit-IV Communication:

  • Communication: Meaning, types and characteristics of communication.
  • Effective communication: Verbal and Non-verbal, Inter-Cultural and group communications, Classroom communication.
  • Barriers to effective communication.
  • Mass-Media and Society.

Unit-V Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude:

  • Types of reasoning.
  • Number series, Letter series, Codes and Relationships.
  • Mathematical Aptitude (Fraction, Time & Distance, Ratio, Proportion and
  • Percentage, Profit and Loss, Interest and Discounting, Averages, etc.).

Unit-VI Logical Reasoning:

  • Understanding the structure of arguments: argument forms, the structure of categorical propositions, Mood and Figure, Formal and Informal fallacies,
  • Uses of language, Connotations and denotations of terms, Classical Square of opposition.
  • Evaluating and distinguishing deductive and inductive reasoning.
  • Venn diagram: Simple and multiple uses for establishing the validity of arguments.
  • Indian Logic: Means of knowledge.
  • Pramanas: Pratyaksha (Perception), Anumana (Inference), Upamana (Comparison), Shabda (Verbal testimony), Arthapatti (Implication) and Anupalabddhi (Non-apprehension).
  • Structure and kinds of Anumana (inference), Vyapti (invariable relation), Hetvabwillas (fallacies of inference).

Unit-VII Data Interpretation:

  • Sources, acquisition & classification of Data.
  • Quantitative and Qualitative Data.
  • Graphical representation (Bar-chart, Histograms, Pie-chart, Table-chart & Line-chart) and mapping of Data.

  • Data and Governance.

NOTE: (i) Five questions each carrying 2 marks are to be set from each Module.

(ii) Whenever graphical/pictorial question(s) are set for sighted aspirants, a passage followed by an equal number of questions and weightage would be set for visually impaired aspirants.

Paper-II:

After completion of the paper, one Subject of paper II can be decided by the aspirant. The list is given below.

Hall Ticket:

  • Aspirants need to download the hall ticket before the exam.
  • Hall Ticket would be published 7 days prior to the date of the exam.
  • No hall ticket would be sent to the aspirants by post.
  • No candidate would be allowed to appear at the examination centre other than that allotted to him/her in the Hall Ticket.

Answer Key:

  • The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (a state agency) will declare the Answer Key on the official portal at Gujarat set.ac.in.
  • Nevertheless, some coaching centres would also release unofficial keys after the exam.
  • They can estimate scores and analyze selection chances by using the answer key.
