KVPY 2023: The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna (KVPY) is a programme is organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) Government of India, in the year 1999 to encourage the students studying Basic Sciences to take up research career in science. The program aims to help in developing the best scientific talent for research & development in the country. Generous grants and fellowship are provided to the selected students (KVPY Fellows) up to the pre-Ph. D. level or 5 years whichever is earlier. A stipend of Rs.5000/- per month and an Annual Contingency Grant of Rs.20,000/- are granted during the 1st to 3rd year after which it is increased to a monthly stipend of Rs.7,000/- and an annual grant of Rs.28,000/- for the next two years. In addition to this summer camps are organized for KVPY fellows at the premier and prestigious Institutions of education and research in the country.
The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India has entrusted the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore the complete responsibility of organizing and running the KVPY programme and set up a management committee and National Advisory Committee (NAC) to look over its implementation. There is a core committee that looks after its day to day and academic aspects of KVPY.

KVPY Registration 2023:
KVPY Registration 2023 Application form has been released on September 2023.
- First, the candidate has to get registered online.
- Then the application form should be filled with personal and academic details, choosing the test centers, upload the Photo, Signature, and other certificates as applicable along with the payment of the application fee.
- It must be noted that the fee must be paid only at the KVPY portal.
- The application fee may be paid through Credit Card /ATM Debit Card / Net Banking or by downloading challan from the application portal. No other means of payment is acceptable.
- Once the payment is made successfully and the application is submitted, the payment cannot be refunded. The application fee for general candidates and OBC is Rs.1250/- and candidates from SC / ST / PWD are Rs.625/-

Eligibility Criteria:

The Fellowship of the students appearing for KVPY 2023 shall be activated only if they join an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences, i.e. B.Sc. / B.S. / B.STAT. / B.Math. / Int. M.Sc. / M.S. in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Ecology, Botany, Molecular Biology, Zoology, Physiology, Neurosciences, Bioinformatics, Marine Biology, Geology, Human Biology, Genetics, Applied Physics, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Geophysics, Material Science or Environment Science.
The shortlisted candidates based on the performance in the aptitude test, are called for interviews. Another merit list is then prepared based on 70% weight-age for their aptitude test marks and 30% weight-age for their interview. There are three streams through which a candidate can apply: SA, SB, and SX. SA is for 11th standard and SB & SX are meant for 12 standard students.
- Stream SA: SA is meant for students of 11th standard who have scored at least 80% marks in aggregate in science and mathematics (70% marks in case of SC/ST/PWD) in class 10th board examination. Such students if selected, will start their fellowship once they enroll themselves for a basic science undergraduate course (B.Sc./B.Math./B.S./ B. Stat. /Inter. M.Sc. /M.S.) in the academic session 2020, after securing at least 60% marks in aggregate in science subjects (50% in case of SC/ST/PWD) in standard 12th Board examination.
- Stream SB/SX: SB is meant for Biology students and SA is meant for Mathematics students. The examination paper would consist of two sections A and B. Each section would consist of all four subjects. Section A will consist of 20 questions from each subject and section B will consist of 10 questions from each subject. The candidates are required to attempt any three out of four subjects, in section A and any two subjects out of four subjects in section B. Section A will have +1, -o.25 marking and section B will have +2, -0.5 marking system.

Exam Pattern:
- The entrance exam will be conducted through online mode.
- The language of the paper will be in English & Hindi medium.
- Multiple choice questions (MCQ) will be asked in the exam.
- The time duration of the Exam will be 3 hours.
- The Paper will be of 100 marks.
- In the SA stream, it is compulsory to attempt all questions.
- In SB/SX stream, Candidates have an option to attempt any three sections in Part I and two sections in Part II.

KVPY 2023 Syllabus:
There is no fixed KVPY 2023 Syllabus for the exam, but those preparing for JEE/AIPMT are sufficiently prepared for this entrance examination. Previous year papers should be considered for preparation.
Interview:
There will be a panel of the interviewer from all the subjects of science who will ask you questions from the subjects which you have studied in the 11th standard. If you have studied your subjects well and understood it well, there should not be difficult in answering those questions and get through the interview successfully.
