NTSE 2024: NTSE is a National Talent Search Examination which is an offline scholarship exam for class X students to encourage higher studies in Science and Social Science. This exam is commenced by NCERT at two different stages. SCERT or other authority of the respective state commences stage 1 at the state level whereas stage 2 by NCERT at the national level. NTSE 2024 Application Process:
State-level authorities will release the application form for the stage 1 exam through their respective schools and another release via online mode. Students can download the NTSE application form through the official website of states and Union Territories or may collect it from the school authorities. You can apply any mode online or offline.
How to Apply in the Offline Mode?
- First, contact the respective school authority and then collect the NTSE form.
- Fill in all the information in the application form correctly.
- Sign the filled application form and get it attested by the school principal.
- Make sure to attach the required documents with the application form and submit it to the school authority.
- The head of the schools will submit the duly filled applications to State Liasion Officer before the deadline as stated in their application form.
Note: After qualifying for Stage 1, students may appear directly for stage 2.

Eligibility Criteria:
Every state has set its eligibility conditions for the Stage 1 NTSE exam while eligibility for NTSE Stage 2 will set by NCERT. Guve3n below are the eligibility criteria:
Stage 1 Eligibility Criteria:
- Students presently studying in class X from any recognized school/board including Sainik Schools, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and Navodaya Vidyalaya may apply for the stage 1 NTSE exam
- Those who are studying from the open board and have aged less than 18 years, are unemployed, and appear in class X for the first time are eligible to appear for NTSE exam stage 1.
- Only Indian students are permitted to appear for the NTSE stage 1 exam.
- Those who are studying outside India may appear directly for the stage 2 exam.
Stage II Eligibility Criteria:
To appear for Stage 2, applicants must clear stage 1 or state-level NTSE exam with minimum marks. To continue the scholarship, check the eligibility conditions:
- Applicants must be appearing in class X for the first time.
- In some states, the requirement is 55% marks in class IX to apply for the NTSE exam.
- Indian students studying abroad in class X or equivalent class may apply directly for NTSE stage II. They must have acquired a minimum of 60% marks (in aggregate) in the IX standard.
Paper Pattern:

- Each stage consisted of two papers – MAT (Mental Ability Test) and SAT (Scholastic Ability Test) for 100 marks each.
- Students will get 4 hours to complete both the papers, i.e. 2 hours for each paper.
- Those who clear both the stages will be awarded the scholarships.
- Overall, 2000 students will be shortlisted for NTSE scholarships.
- Stage 2 exam will be commenced by NCERT
Syllabus:
The syllabus of NTSE 2024 includes the following:
- Mental Ability Test
- Science
- Mathematics
- Social Science
Admit Card:
The state will release the admit card at least 7-10 days before the exam day. The admit card for NTSE Stage 1 for some states is released by the respective DGE or SCERT on their official website. However, some states prefer providing admit cards in the offline mode via respective schools. Download the admit card from the official website or seek it from the respective schools.
Admit card contains important information such as the applicant’s roll number, exam date, exam venue, and so on. Kindly note, that students must carry admit cards to the exam center.
Steps to Acquire NTSE Admit Card:
- To attain the admit card in the online mode, first download it from the official website of the SCERT/Education Department.
- In case, students fail to receive the admit card, visit the State Liaison Officer.
- NCERT will release the admit card for Stage 2 on its official website at least 3 weeks before the exam date.
- Download the admit card from the website.
The admit card for Stage 2 will release through the official website in the online mode. Students are not allowed to appear in the exam without admit card.
Answer Key:
The Answer Key for Stage 1 will be released by different SCERTs on the respective official websites. Check the official website to get a view of the answer key. Download the Answer Key of MAT and SAT papers to check the answers. This will give an idea to the students about the correct answers and scores they may achieve.
Cut Off:
Every state releases its separate cut-off list to qualify for the exam. The cut-off marks are the minimum marks specified by the exam conducting authority. The cut-off of NTSE Stage 2 will be released in September month.
Result:
The exam result will be available in the form of a merit list. Candidates can check the scores, names, and roll numbers on the score card. Those who qualify for Stage 1 will find their names in Stage 2
