Government Of India, Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology in collaboration with Biotech Consortium India Limited, New Delhi provides DBT-Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF) for Indian nationals to pursue work in the Biotech and Applied Biology frontier areas. For DBT- JRF application forms are available every year in January/February. All desiring candidates must go through the eligibility criteria before form submission. The form needs to be filled correctly with accurate information asked by the university on the form. Applicants need to submit an application fee when they are submitting the online application form. Candidates must provide valid mail id and mobile number to get intimated about BET from time to time. Candidates need to provide the following documents with the application form:

Age Limit: The candidate’s maximum age should not be greater than 28 years as on the last application date.
The candidates who are belonging to the SC/ ST/ PWD categories and female candidates will be given a relaxation of 5 years and 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates.
Academic qualification: Candidates are eligible for M.Sc / M.Tech / M.V.Sc / Integrated BS-MS / BE / B.Tech in Biotechnology / M.Sc / M.Tech in Bio-Informatics or Computational Biology / M.Sc in Life Science / Bioscience / Zoology / Botany / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Bio-Physics, or equivalent degree.
Those admitted to postgraduate teaching programs supported under the DBT are also eligible to apply. The candidates who will appear in the 2021 final year exam will apply as well.
Scholarship:
Initially, the fellowship will continue for 3 years which can be extended to 2 more years depending on a candidate’s conduct. The conduct of JRF will be evaluated by the end of 2nd year and will be promoted to SRF. For the fellowship of JRF/SRF, a candidate will receive Rs. 25,000/- or 28,000/- per month + HRA as per DST norms.
The BET examination has two sections. The time limit for the examination is 3 hours. The exam will be of 300 marks. The exam is computer-based or CBT. Each section will have a separate number of questions. 200 total questions will be there where section A will have 50 questions and 150 questions will be from section B.
Section A will have topics related to General Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Analytical Quantitative Ability, General aptitude, general biotechnology, etc.
Section B will deal with certain specialized sectors of Biotechnology

The syllabus for DBT-JRF BET examination is as follows: The exam consists of two parts
Some of the part B topics are Agricultural Biotechnology, Plant Biology, physiology, Abiotic and Biotic Stress Biology, Animal Physiology and Biochemistry, molecular biology and seed technology, Pathology, Immunology, Research Methodologies, Histology and Embryology, Molecular Diagnostics, Molecular Medicine and Surgery, M. Tech. Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, etc.
DBT JRF BET Admit Cards are published online in the official web portal. Candidates should download and carry the admit card to the exam center while reporting for the examination. The candidates will be given details of the test center and schedule via their admit card. Without a admit card no candidates will be allowed to enter the examination hall.
The result of selected applicants who can proceed for counseling and admission would be published on the official website of the college. It is issued separately for the two categories.
