DBT Application Form 2023 will be available in April 2023. Any Indian citizen with requisite qualifications can apply for BET in order to work as a researcher in the field of Biotechnology & Applied Biology. Candidates need to submit only an application form with all the necessary information. RCB website will furnish all vital information related to BET from time to time. All desiring candidates must go through the eligibility criteria before form submission. After submission of the application form, no request regarding change of examination centre or any corrections in the application form will be entertained. Applicants need to submit an application fee when they are submitting the online application form. Candidates must provide valid mail id and mobile number in order to get intimated about BET from time to time. Candidates need to provide the following documents with the application form:
OBC, EWS, and general applicants need to transfer Rs.1000 as application fee.
ST/SC/PH applicants are required to pay. 250 as application fees. Applicants must know that they can process these non-transferable and non-refundable application fees both by online or offline mode on the official website. Candidates will not get any TA for appearing in the examination.
Age Limit: For BET the upper age limit for applicants pertaining to EWS and general category is 28 years. For ST/SC/PWD and female candidates, there is up to 5yrs relaxation of age. For OBC candidates, 3 years relaxation is given in order to apply for BET.
Educational Qualification: The applicants must be Post Graduate in Bio-Technology or BioScience, life science, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Bio-Physics.
Marks: For general, EWS and OBC category the qualifying score is 60%. For ST/SC/PWD candidates the minimum qualifying marks is 55%.
Initially, the fellowship will continue for 3 years which can be extended to 2 more years depending on a candidate’s conduct. The conduct of JRF will be evaluated by the end of 2nd year and will be promoted to SRF. For the fellowship of JRF/SRF a candidate will receive @ Rs. 25,000/- or 28,000/- per month + HRA as per DST norms.

Applicants must follow the registration procedure available on the official website in order to acquire the application form. Each minor detail from the registration procedure to the declaration of results will be notified via the official website. The final submission date will also be informed through the official website. From downloading the application form to payment of application fees every procedure is discussed in detail on the official website. Based on merit JRF’s will be selected under two categories.
For Category I: 275 students can apply to any Indian University/Institute for fellowship as a junior researcher or for Ph.D in Biotechnology.
For Category II: 100 students can join any DBT supported Project and can take fellowship similar to GATE/NET certificates as per DST norms.
The BET examination has two sections. The time limit for the examination is 3 hours. The total marks for the examination are 300. The exam is computer-based or CBT. Each section will have a separate number of questions. 200 total questions will be there where section A will have 50 questions and 150 questions will be from section B.
Section A will have topics related to General Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Analytical Quantitative Ability, General aptitude, general biotechnology, etc.
Section B will deal with certain specialized sectors of Biotechnology

Some of the part B topics are Agricultural Biotechnology, Abiotic and Biotic Stress Biology, Plant Biology, physiology, molecular biology and seed technology, Animal Physiology, and Biochemistry, Pathology, Immunology, Research Methodologies, Molecular Diagnostics, Histology and Embryology, Molecular Medicine and Surgery, M. Tech. Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, etc.
DBT JRF BET admits cards are issued online in the official web portal. With used Id and password, candidates can acquire they admit card available online. Candidates need to carry it along with a photo id proof to the examination centre. The admit card consists of details regarding exam time, exam centre, exam date, etc.
The cut off is issued with the announcement of the result. It is issued separately for the two categories.
