HORTICET 2024: Dr. Y.S.R Horticultural University conducts Horticulture Common Entrance Test (HORTICET) every year for candidates seeking admission to the B.Sc (Hons) Horticulture program. B.Sc (H) Horticulture is a four-year undergraduate programme that offers students the knowledge of the science and art of developing, producing, and using high-value, intensively farmed food and aesthetic crops sustainably.
The university set the eligibility criteria that aspiring candidates have to fulfill to appear for the HORTICET entrance exam. Candidates failing to fulfill the eligibility criteria are barred from appearing for the exam. HORTICET is a state-level examination, and according to rules framed by the university, 85% of students admitted to the course are from the state of Andhra Pradesh. While the other 15% of seats are open to candidates from all states of India. There is an intake of 47 seats into the B.Sc (H) Horticulture program.
HORTICET 2024 Application Form
Dr. Y.S.R Horticultural University releases the application form on its official website along with the notification. The university releases the application form every year for admission to B.Sc (H) Horticulture program. Aspiring candidates will be able to fill out the application form by registering themselves on the official website of the university. After filling out the HORTICET application form, candidates are required to take a printout of the application form. Generally, candidates are not given an option to edit/modify the details filled in the application form, therefore, candidates are requested to fill out the form with correct details in one go.
The steps to fill out the HORTICET application form are:
- Visit the official website of Dr. Y.S.R Horticultural University.
- Go to the admission page of the university.
- Click the UG Admission Open link
- Open the notification released by the university and it will contain the application form link.
- Download the application form in the PDF format
- Take a printout of the application form
- Candidates are required to fill out the HORTICET application form and send it through speed post to an official address.
- Every applicant must get an authentic demand draft from any Nationalized Bank, payable to Tadepalligudem. A demand draft in the name of ‘Dr. Y.S.R HORTICULTURAL UNIVERSITY’ is required.
- Those in the General and OBC categories must get an INR 600 demand draft, while candidates in the Sc and ST categories must obtain an INR 300 demand draft.
Details to fill in the application form
- Candidates filling out the application form must have to fill in their all personal details like – Candidates Name, Father Name, Mother Name, Permanent Address, Aadhar Card Number, Date of Birth, and Gender.
- Once filled out the personal details, candidates have to move on to educational details. Under educational details, candidates are required to fill their marks obtained by them in X & XII along with their roll number. Candidates are also required to fill in the details of their Diploma in Horticulture.
- Apart from personal and educational details, candidates have to paste certain documents like – X and XII marksheet, category certificates, three passport size photographs, and other certificates asked in the application form.
- Once the application form is duly filled, send it through a speed post to a postal address of the university.

HORTICET 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates seeking admission to the B.Sc (H) Horticulture program at Dr. Y.S.R Horticultural University must fulfill the eligibility criteria set by the university. Below are the detailed eligibility criteria for the HORTICET entrance exam.
- Candidates must have completed Dr. YSRHU’s Diploma in Horticulture program. Candidates who will complete their Diploma during the 2018-19 academic year are also eligible to apply for HORTICET 2024. During the counseling procedure, however, the candidate must provide his or her Final Memorandum of Marks-cum-Pass Certificate of Diploma in Horticulture.
- The candidate must be a minimum of 17 years of age for applying for the B.Sc (H) Horticulture program.
- The university has also established standards for the maximum age limit. Candidates in either the general or OBC categories must be under the age of 22. Candidates from the SC or ST categories, on the other hand, are eligible to sit for the entrance test till they are 25 years old.
- The candidate must be a citizen of India.

HORTICET 2024 Exam Pattern
The HORTICET exam has a straightforward exam format. Candidates who have submitted an application and are preparing for the entrance exam should be familiar with the exam pattern. Although the HORTICET exam pattern does not vary every year, applicants must be certain of the exam pattern’s minute details. Below are details of the HORTICET exam pattern:
- The mode of the HORTICET entrance exam is Offline.
- The exam consists of 200 questions.
- All 200 questions are of objective type or MCQ.
- The duration of the exam is 2 hrs
- The maximum marks of the paper are 200, which means 1 question carries 1 mark each.
- There is no negative marking on the paper.
Admit Card
After the conclusion of the HORTICET application process, the university releases the list of candidates who are eligible to appear for the HORTICET entrance examination. The list released by the university on its official website will also contain the Hall Ticket number/Roll Number of each candidate.
The university sends the Hall Ticket to the candidates’ postal address. The hall ticket will be mailed in the self-addressed sealed envelope that was included with the application. The HORTICET admit card will contain the following details:
- Roll Number of the candidate
- Exam Centre and its Venue
- Date & Time of Exam
- Photograph and signature of the candidate
- Name of the candidate
Candidates are required to carry their HORTICET admit cards along with them to the examination center. Candidates failing to bring their admit cards will not be allowed to appear for the HORTICET exam.
Candidates will also have the option to download their admit cards from the university’s official website. Following are the steps to download admit card:
- Go to the official website of the university
- Click on the New Announcement tab
- Click on the HORTICET Admit Card link
- Enter your Hall Ticket number and date of birth.
- The admit card will appear on the screen of the candidate
- Download and save the admit card
- Take a printout for future reference
Result
The University will announce the HORTICET 2024 Result on the official website. Candidates will be able to download the results in PDF format and verify their rankings in the list. Candidates that clear the HORTICET 2024 exam are eligible to participate in the counseling process.

- Go to the official website of the university
- Click on the New Announcement tab.
- Click on HORTICET Merit List & Scorecard
- Enter roll number and date of birth
- The merit list will appear on the screen
- Download and save it for future reference
Counseling
After the release of the HORTICET result, the university will conduct the counseling round. The counseling round includes document verification of selected candidates and release of the final seat allotment list. During the HORTICET counseling round, eligible candidates will have to carry certain mandatory documents with them. The necessary documents are as follows:
