IIT BHU Admission 2023: IIT BHU, Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi proffers several courses in the fields such as architectural engineering, planning and design, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, mining, pharmaceutical engineering, chemical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering and computer engineering. Selection for Undergraduate and Potsgraduate Courses:

B.Tech Admission:

    • To seek this course, candidate first needs to clear JEE Advanced course.
    • Once JEE Advanced gets over, applicants must register for participation in JoSAA counselling on the official website of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority.
    • Engineering applicants must appear in the choice of filling, in which they must select the Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi as their first preference.
    • Once the choice has been filled, students are allocated their seats based on merit and the choices they make.
    • After the seat allocation in the JoSAA counselling gets, candidates must check their documents and pay the fee and secure the seat.

M.Tech Admission:

    • First complete the registration for GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) on the GOAPS website. And after clearing the GATE with the required scores, complete their registration process on the COAP website. Those who qualify for GATE and complete the registration on the COAP website will appear further in counseling process.
    • While filling the seat allotment process, candidates need to opt for IIT BHU as their first preference.
    • After the seat allocation, submit the application with IIT BHU and get done with the document verification and pay the requisite fee for the course.
    • The final selection for admission to M.Tech courses at IIT BHU is dependent on successful completion of the counselling process, document verification, and fee payment.

M.Pharm Admission:

  • Admission to M. Pharm is based on the marks acquired in Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT). Applicants attaining admission to the course need to submit their application, supporting documents and the GPAT scorecard, to the University within the stipulated time.
  • In case, the applicant has not completed the GPAT test then they need to appear for written test commenced by the university. These candidates will be given admission if the seats are vacant after the allocation of GPAT candidates
  • Eligible candidates will be chosen for personal interviews according to the grades achieved in Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test.
  • 5% of the total seats are for applicants sponsored by government organizations or renowned universities. They do not need a GPAT score. The final selection is based on the scores attained in the entrance exam and the personal interview commenced by the concerned department.

Ph. D Admission:

  • The eligibility for Ph. D Admission is a Master’s degree with 65 to 75%. Candidates need to appear in GATE, NET or GPAT for selection. After this, they will appear for a written test, and interview. Those who have cleared CSIR NET or UGC NET JRF need not to appear for the written test.

B.Tech Programmes

IIT BHU offers admission to the B. Tech programme in Chemical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Applicant must have cleared class XII in Science Stream with minimum 75 % marks and 65% for SC/ST candidates.

IIT BHU Admission Via Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced:

IIT BHU accepts admission via Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. And thus it becomes important for candidates to follow the given below needs:

  1. First sign in the official website of JEE Advanced 2023.
  2. After this, enter the password and roll number.
  3. Bow, select the new password. This will open a new page on your screen wherein you will enter academic as well as personal details.
  4. Now, enter the information as per the requirement
  5. Now, upload the scanned copy of your colored photo and signature in the specified size and resolution.
  6. Lastly, submit the application fee of Rs. 2,800 via online mode.

JEE Advanced AAT Advising:

Candidates need to register via JoSAA, where they will be allocated as per the applicant’s rank, preferences and availability of the seat.

  • Entrance examination scorecard
  • Caste certificate, Category certificate (if needed)

M.Tech Admission:

M.Tech Programme is offered in Extractive Metallurgy, Transportation Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Hydraulics & Water Resource Engineering, Heat Power, Power Electronics, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control systems, Environmental Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Production Engineering. Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Geoinformatics, Machine Design, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Alloy Technology, Mining Engineering, Communication Systems, Structural Engineering

Candidate must have acquired at least 75% in the class XII examination or be in the top 20 percentile in the Class XII exam commenced by the respective Boards. For SC/ST category applicants, the required percentage is 65% in the Class XII examination by some recognized boards.

Candidate must be possessed with the B. Tech or an equivalent degree in the respective branch of engineering with at least 60% marks. In addition to this, a GATE scorecard is also required. Selecting the applicants for M. Tech Course is based on the scores attained in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).

B.Arch Programmes Admission:

Those who are willing to seek admission in B.Arch course must have cleared class XII in Science stream with minimum 50% marks. They need to appear in JEE Advanced for selection. The course is for 5 years duration.

M.Pharm Programme Admission:

Candidate must have done completed Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Pharmacy from the recognized university/institute in India.

Applicants must have attained a minimum 60% or more marks in the undergraduate degree.

Applicant must have cleared GPAT.

Candidates from SC/ST category also need to qualify the exam and they will not get any relaxation. However, OBC and PC will get the relaxation of 5% in the qualifying exam of the minimum eligibility requirements as compared to the general candidates.

Entrance Test by IMS, BHU for M.Pharm:

BHU, Banaras Hindu University commences a Competitive written admission test for M.Pharm. Applicants need to apply via online mode from the official website bhu.ac.in/

Admission to M.Pharm course is provided via entrance test. Those who are interested need to appear in the admission process. BHU offers admission to Two Years (Annual system), M. Pharm (Ay.) (Special course of study) at RGSC, Barkachha, Faculty of Ayurveda of the University. Admission is given as per the merit in the entrance test. And those who qualify for the test will appear for counselling.

Ph. D Programmes Admission:

Those who are willing to seek admission in Ph. D Programmes must read about all 10 specializations. Candidates must have cleared Masters with a minimum 65% or more marks. However, the requirement for minimum marks can go up to 75% in a few cases. In addition to this, applicants must appear for NET, GATE or GPAT to be selected. Shortlisted candidates will appear for a written test and interviews. On the contrary, those who have already cleared the UGC Net JRF of CSIR NET, need not to appear in the entrance test.

  • For Engineering, applicants need to have completed a Master’s degree in Engineering with at least 60% aggregate marks, 75% in graduation, Masters in Science with minimum 65% and Bachelors in Science with at least 60%
  • Science – Master’s degree holders in science with 60% aggregate marks/degree Bachelor’s in Science with minimum 75% aggregate marks.
  • Pharmacy – Master’s degree in Pharmacy with 60% aggregate marks/degree Bachelor’s in pharmacy with minimum 75% aggregate marks.
  • Humanities – Master’s degree in relevant subjects with 60% aggregate marks/degree Master’s in Science with 60% aggregate marks/degree Bachelor’s in Engineering or Science with at least 75% aggregate.
  • Admission is also dependent on performance in the written test and personal interview.

List of candidates’ categories exempted from the written test:

  • External Registration Category Full Time
  • Category of sponsored registration
  • Category of part-time registration
  • Candidates with National Level Scholarships

After the approval of the Chairperson, the department head or coordinator will issue a letter of acceptance which will be accepted by the candidates. Submit the required fee before the last date.

In case, a candidate fails to pay the fee before the last date, the admission will be offered will decline and offered to the next candidate on the waiting list.

IIT BHU 2023 Application Process:

Here is the application process followed for IIT BHU 2023:

  1. To apply for admission, first, go to the official website of IIT BHU.
  2. Now, click on ‘Application Procedure’
  3. The online application portal will open
  4. Click on ‘New User Register Here and fill the details such as name, email ID, contact number, course preference, etc.
  5. Upload the passport size photo
  6. Pay the application fee of Rs 500/- by SBI payment gateway using a debit card/ credit card/ net banking.
  7. Hit the ‘Submit’ button. Download and take a print of the application form for further reference.
