NTSE West Bengal 2023 Application Form:

  • First click on the link http://wbsed.gov.in
  • You will be directed to the ‘Instruction Page’. Now, click on ‘PROCEED TO REGISTER
  • Enter the mobile number, Email Id, and personal details for registration.
  • Fill in the details and press ‘Register’.
  • Move on to the next window and you will find the options to download the registration details log in and fill out the application form.
  • Now, download the registration details and click on login, you will move next to the scholarship portal of DSE, West Bengal.
  • On the scholarship web portal of DSE, West Bengal, login into your account by using the registration number and password mentioned during registration and login into your account.
  • Now, move to the dashboard, and at the top of the window, ‘Application’ will appear. Click on it and then click on ‘Form Fill UP’
  • Upload the scanned copy of the recent passport-sized photograph.
  • Fill in other details and press ‘Save’
  • After this, download the copy of the application form, and the verification form filled by the school Principal.

Note: Both application and verification forms should be attested by the Head of Institution/School Principal.

  • Upload the attested certificate onto the registered ID created during the registration.
  • Those who belong to SC/ST/OBC categories need to submit scanned copies of their caste certificate certified by the relevant authorities.
  • Those who are applying under the PH category need to upload the scanned copy of their disability certificate, certified by a competent Medical Board of State Govt./ Central Govt.
  • The size of the scanned document should be 100KB size.

Exam Districts:

While filling out the application form for NTSE West Bengal 2023-applicants must select the educational district they live in. Applicants can choose from two educational districts –

  • Barrackpore Educational District with Sub-Divisions: Barrackpore and Bidhannagar
  • Siliguri Educational District: Siliguri Sub-Division only.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Those who are studying in class X from any school recognized under W.B.B.S.E./ W.B.B.M.E./ I.C.S.E./ C.B.S.E in West Bengal may apply for stage 1 of West Bengal NTSE 2023.
  • Candidates must have attained at least 50% marks (40% or above for SC/ST/PH/OBC) in class IX and may apply for NTSE West Bengal.
  • Open or distance learning students may also apply for West Bengal NTSE
  • The candidate’s age must be 18 years at least
  • The caste/class of the applicant should be listed in the ‘Central List of OBCs’ by NCBC (National Council of Backward Classes)
  • OBC applicants who come under the ‘Non-Creamy Layer’ income group may seek the reservation benefits. Creamy layer OBC applicants won’t receive any reservations.

Exam Pattern:

The examination pattern consisted of information on test duration, several questions asked, types of questions, sections, etc. The exam will be for 4 hours duration and will be for 200 marks.

  • Mental Ability Test (MAT) – Multiple choice Objective type 100 Questions to be completed in 2 hours.
  • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) – Multiple choices Objective type100 questions for 1 mark each. The candidate needs to complete the paper in 2 hours.

Syllabus:

There will not be a particular syllabus for NTSE West Bengal 2023 but applicants need to prepare from CBSE or the state board syllabus of classes 9th and 10th. Here are the topics covered:

Admit Card:

Those who have successfully applied must download the admit card from the official website of DGE, West Bengal. The admit card will be released at least 15 days before the exam date. Make sure to check the information on the admit card for avoiding any trouble later.

Answer Key:

The Answer Key will be released a few days after the exam gets over. It will consist of correct answers to the questions asked in MAT and SATs. Applicants can get an idea of the scores through Answer Key.

Result:

The result of Stage 1 will release in February in the online mode. It will appear in the form of a merit list. This list consisted of names as well as scores of the shortlisted students who clear Stage 2.

Reservation Criteria:

The 53.5% of seats out of the 2000 scholarships will be reserved under NTSE. Check the reservation percentage below:
