UPSC CMS 2024 Application Form:

Those who are looking forward to applying for the UPSC CMS 2024 examination are required to submit the application form. Go to the official website and seek the application form. Enter all the details such as academic records, personal information, and other information as well. Make sure to upload the passport size photo and signature in the application form. Steps to Apply for UPSC CMS Application Form 2024:

CMS Application Part-I:

  • Visit the official website https://upsconline.nic.in/
  • Then click on the link, online application for various examinations of UPSC.
  • On clicking the link, a new page will open, choose the exam and start filling up the application form.
  • Candidates need to click on the “Click Here for Part-I” link given under the Part-I registration tab.
  • Read and understand the given instructions fully and click on the Yes button to proceed.
  • On clicking the button, the Combined Medical Exam application form (part-I) will appear on the screen.
  • Then fill in the details carefully.

CMS Application Form Part-II:

  • Again visit the official website of UPSC & click on the “Click Here for Part II” link.
  • On clicking the link, a new page will appear wherein candidates need to enter their registration ID as well as the date of birth and click on the Submit button.
  • On clicking the button, the Combined Medical Services exam part-II application form will appear on the screen.
  • Candidates need to fill in the required details and click on the “Submit” button.
  • On submission of the part-II registration form, the candidates’ CMS exam application process will be complete.

Eligibility Criteria:

The candidate can apply for UPSC CMS 2024 if he/she meets the following requirements:

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Bhutan, or a subject of Nepal.
  • The Tibetan refugees who came to India before 1st January 1962 for permanent stay can apply for the examination.
  • Person of Indian origin who migrated to India from the countries such as Zambia, Burma, East African Countries of Kenya, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Vietnam, Uganda, Zaire, Zambia, Ethiopia, or the United Republic of Tanzania can apply for the examination.
  • The candidate should not be exceeded to 32 years of age as of 1st August 2024. There will be age relaxation for the aspirants belonging to the reserved category.
  • Candidates are required to clear both the written as well as the practical part of the final MBBS exam.
  • Those who are in their final year of the MBBS program can also apply for the examination.

UPSC CMS Vacancy 2024:

The total number of vacancies is 838, which is released for Junior Scale Posts in Central Health Service and for Assistant Divisional Medical Officer, Assistant Medical Officer, and GDMO Posts.

  • Category-I: Junior Scale Posts in Central Health Service – 349 Posts
  • Category-II: Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the Railways – 300 Posts.

Exam Pattern:

UPSC CMS Exam Pattern:

  • The exam will be conducted in two parts, i.e., part 1 and part 2.
  • The computer-based (online) exam will be Part 1, and Part 2 will be a personality test (interview).
  • The medium of the exam will be English.

Part 1 (Computer-Based Exam):

  • Exam Paper: The UPSC CMS 2023 Exam is divided into two parts. The first is Paper 1 (General Medicine and Paediatrics), and the second is Paper 2 (Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Preventive & Social Medicine).
  • Number of Questions: A total of 120 questions will be asked for each paper.
  • Total marks: 500 marks.
  • Duration of Exam: 2 hours (for each paper).
  • Type of Questions: Objective-type MCQs will be asked.
  • Marking Scheme: Each question will be worth 4 marks.
  • Negative marking: 1/3 will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Part 2 (Personality Test):

  • Part 2 tests will be conducted online (computer-based).
  • This part will carry 100 marks.

General Medicine IncludesTopics like Cardiology, Respiratory diseases, Genito-Urinary, Endocrinology, Hematology, Vaccines preventable diseases and Non-vaccines preventable diseases, Neurology, Metabolic disorders, Gastro-intestinal, Vitamin Deficiency Diseases, Emphasis on medical procedures, Pathophysiological basis of diseases, Critical Care Medicine, etc.

Pediatrics Includes topics such as recognizing children with special needs and management, Common Childhood Emergencies, Basic Newborn Care, National Programmes Related to Child Health, Normal Developmental milestones, Accidents and poisonings in children, Birth defects, and Counseling Including Autism, Immunization in children, etc.

Syllabus of Paper 2:

Wounds, General Surgery comprises of topics like Cysts/sinuses, Blood Vessels, Head and Neck, Abdominal wall, Infections, Cysts/sinuses, Spleen, Peritoneum, Bile, Breast, Liver, Pancreas, Thoracic Surgery, Alimentary tract, Ophthalmology, Medicolegal and ethical issues of surgery, etc.

Gynaecology & Obstetrics Includes Topics Like Ante-Natal Conditions, Abortions, Intra-Uterine growth retardation, Post-natal conditions, Conventional contraceptives, Intra-natal conditions, Medical Termination of Pregnancy, U.D., and oral pills, etc.

Preventive Social and Community Medicine include topics such as Knowledge of maternal and child wellness, Management of common health problems, Concept of Health, Disease and Preventive Medicine, Ability to monitor national health programs, Environmental Health, Genetics, and Health, etc.

Admit Card:

Download the admit card via the official website of UPSC. This card will be released 20 days before the examination date. Admit Card will consist of information such as date, venue, and time of the examination. If a candidate fails to download the admit card successfully, then make sure to contact UPSC authorities. This card is compulsory to carry, as it is not possible to enter the examination hall without admit card.
